Metabolism IV Therapy: Energy and Focus Support During Weight Management

Can metabolism really be sped up? The honest answer. IV energy and focus support for your weight-management program — not a weight-loss drip. Nişantaşı.

Metabolism IV Therapy: Energy and Focus Support During Weight Management

What is Metabolism IV therapy?

It is the intravenous administration of vitamins, minerals and amino acids involved in energy metabolism, during a weight-management process. It is not a treatment that makes you lose weight; it is a supportive treatment aimed at making it easier to keep up your diet and exercise program. Sessions take 30–45 minutes and follow a physician assessment.

Dieting Is Tiring

When calories drop, energy drops; focusing gets harder; workouts feel heavier. That is exactly where most people abandon their program — not from lack of motivation, but from exhaustion.

This treatment is aimed at precisely that point: supporting the energy and stamina side of the process.

Can Metabolism Really Be Sped Up?

We need to answer this honestly, because the market claims otherwise — loudly.

The most important determinant of your resting metabolic rate is your lean body mass — muscle. The relationship is so fundamental that it even shapes your appetite: lean mass (not fat mass) correlates positively with meal size and daily energy intake, and most of that effect runs through resting metabolic rate.1

The known way to genuinely influence metabolic rate runs through this: preserving and building muscle. Strength training and adequate protein intake are what exist for that.

No infusion has been shown to raise resting metabolic rate — and we make no such claim.

So what remains? This — and it is not to be dismissed: carrying yourself through the dieting period. If your energy holds, you don’t skip the workout. If your mind is clear, your evening decisions are better. If you can stay on the program, you get the result. That is where this treatment belongs.

About the Formula

Components are set individually after the pre-treatment assessment. At the core:

  • L-carnitine: a compound involved in transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria
  • B-vitamin complex: cofactors in converting carbohydrates and fats into energy
  • Magnesium: for its role in muscle function and energy metabolism
  • Fluid and electrolyte support: sterile isotonic sodium chloride solution, to maintain fluid-electrolyte balance during low-calorie periods

An honest note on L-carnitine

We write this section because L-carnitine is one of the most heavily marketed “fat burners” — and the picture is more nuanced than it looks.

On the oral-supplement side: a meta-analysis covering 37 randomized controlled trials and 2,292 participants reported that L-carnitine supplementation produced an average reduction of 1.21 kg in body weight and 2.08 kg in fat mass.2 So the effect is real — but modest.

On the intravenous side: in a study of healthy volunteers, intravenously administered L-carnitine showed no significant effect on fatty-acid oxidation rate, ketone production or glucose production.3 It is a small and old study — but its subject is exactly our procedure.

What do these two findings mean together? We do not position this treatment around fat burning. We position it as energy and stamina support during a dieting period. We write this because we don’t want to present what we don’t know as if we knew it.

Why aren’t doses listed here?

Doses are set individually; we do not publish a standard dosing chart. The contents and doses to be used are explained to you in detail before the session.

Potential Benefits

  • Support against the energy dip of a dieting period
  • A contribution to mental clarity — aimed at the focus difficulties common in low-calorie periods
  • Fluid and electrolyte support — especially during heavy training periods
  • A contribution to post-workout recovery

Effects vary from person to person. This treatment does not cause weight loss, does not raise metabolic rate, does not accelerate fat burning, and is not an appetite suppressant.

Who Might Consider This Supportive Treatment?

  • Adults keeping up a nutrition and exercise program but describing low energy and difficulty focusing
  • People looking for fluid and mineral support during heavy training periods
  • People wanting to support recovery during low-calorie periods

Note: the foundation of your weight-loss process is diet, physical activity and sleep. This treatment sits alongside them — not in their place. If you don’t yet have a nutrition program, the first step is a dietitian or physician assessment.

Who Is It Not Suitable For?

  • Anyone with a diagnosis or history of an eating disorder — the priority in these conditions is appropriate medical and psychological support; this treatment is not administered
  • Under 18
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Kidney failure — L-carnitine excretion is impaired
  • A history of seizures — L-carnitine can affect the seizure threshold
  • Anyone on thyroid hormone medication — physician assessment required
  • Heart failure and serious heart disease — because of the risk of fluid overload
  • Uncontrolled diabetes or blood-sugar-lowering medication — physician assessment required
  • Known allergy to any component

Tell us about every medication and supplement you use before the treatment.

Possible Side Effects

  • Temporary redness, tenderness or bruising at the IV site
  • Nausea or abdominal discomfort (rare)
  • A fish-like odour in breath and sweat (from L-carnitine — harmless)
  • Dizziness (rare)
  • Allergic reaction to a component (rare)

Equipment to respond to a possible allergic reaction is kept ready, and the treatment is carried out under the supervision of an anesthesiology specialist.

Before, During and After

Before: no need to fast. Tell us about your medications, supplements and chronic conditions. Information about your nutrition program is also helpful.

During: 30–45 minutes. You can rest seated, work or listen to music.

After: no particular restrictions. Keep up your water intake through the day.

When Should You See a Doctor About Your Weight?

Weight management is a medical matter more often than people think. In these situations, an evaluation should come first:

  • Unexplained weight loss — losing weight without trying needs investigating
  • No response despite diet and exercise — thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance or PCOS should be investigated
  • Menstrual irregularity, excess hair growth, darkening of the skin
  • Constant fatigue, feeling cold, hair loss, constipation
  • Swelling in the neck or difficulty swallowing

And if you experience these — compensating for what you’ve eaten, intense guilt after eating, weight and body shape dictating your day, a cycle of restriction and bingeing — that picture is not addressed with an infusion. We recommend seeing a physician or a mental-health professional. These are treatable conditions, and they improve markedly with the right support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this therapy make me lose weight on its own?

No. What produces weight loss is energy balance; without a nutrition program and physical activity, an infusion delivers nothing. This treatment is aimed at making it easier to keep your program going.

Will it speed up my metabolism?

No. The main determinant of resting metabolic rate is lean body mass.1 The known way to raise it is strength training and adequate protein — not an infusion.

Will it increase my fat burning?

We make no such promise. Studies of oral L-carnitine supplementation report a modest effect,2 but intravenous administration has not been shown to change fat oxidation.3

Will it suppress my appetite?

No — and it is not an appetite suppressant. An interesting point: appetite correlates with lean mass and resting metabolic rate.1 So as muscle mass grows, energy needs — and appetite — can grow too. The right address for appetite management is diet structure and meal composition.

How often can I have it?

We do not propose a fixed course program. Frequency is decided at the assessment, based on your general health and needs.

Will I benefit if I'm not dieting?

This treatment is a supporter of a weight-management program. If there is no program, there is nothing to support. The first step is planning your nutrition.

Will it help my sports performance?

Fluid and electrolyte support can contribute to recovery during heavy training periods. But we promise no performance gain.

I'm visiting Istanbul — can I book same-day?

Usually, yes. The clinic is on Abdi İpekçi Street in Nişantaşı, close to the main hotel districts, and consultations are held in English. Contact us by phone or WhatsApp.

Does it hurt?

Only a mild sting as the IV line is placed. If you have a fear of needles, a thinner cannula and topical anesthetic cream can be used.
